Amsterdam este un oras frumos, tineresc, relaxat, modern. O vizita poate semana cu o imersiune in secolul XVII deoarece arhitectura din aceasta perioada abunda in centrul orasului, care are forma de potcoava imprejmuita de patru canale faimoase:  Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht si Prinsengracht. Aceste canale sunt cea mai buna cale de a vedea casele cu frontoane.
